Mary Michael was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. She has had a camera in hand for as long as she can remember. Thanks to her father's love of photography, her passion for the medium grew along side of his. From spelunking the caves of El Malpais to crosscountry skiing the snow covered hills of Chama, her love of landscapes comes from growing up in the Land of Enchantment. Her experiences through camping and exploring has given her an appreciation of the environment and the beauty it contains.
Her current work focuses on exploring her own identity by redefining it through the eyes of others. Being adopted, her ethnicity has never been clear. By incorporating outside outside perspectives, she utilizes the physical traits of different cultures to bring attention to the different traits that people see in her. She recently graduated Baylor University with a BFA in photography. |
